Teenage Years

I was so wrong about the whole parenting through the teen years. I thought that I would be eased on into it. I thought that since I had boys and not girls, I would escape the "girlie" drama that girls go through. Wrong....wrong....wrong.

I never thought about the drama that would come with my son having a girlfriend and having friends that are girls. Oh wow! This will be hard. By the time I make it through with Roo, Bug will be entering the teen phase. Hopefully, I will be better prepared for him.

I realize that they are young, unlike us who can say "if I had know then what I know now". But really.....some of this stuff they start leaves me at a loss for words sometimes. It's the same song and dance, just a different generation.

The hard part for me is to be on the sidelines (where I belong) and let him experience the teenage life. Learn from his own mistakes and the mistakes of his peers, only brought in when my advice is asked for.

Yes.....I'm not ready for this but unfortunately, there are no signs for a U-turn.
