Since being married to Doug, he has been trying to teach me patience (of which I have almost none). With that being said, let me say that I always like to have a structure schedule in my life. Although, I can handle small changes to it. I got to test out some of my new patience skills Friday afternoon.
I had left work early so that I could get gas before picking Roo up from baseball practice, which was suppose to end at 5 and get Bug from after-school by 6. Of course, as always, traffic is heavier on Fridays. I get to the gas station and take my place in line. After waiting 10 minutes, the truck in front of me pulls up to the pumps. Instead of getting out and pumping gas and the passenger getting out and getting the drinks....the driver gets out and goes over to the vending machines. He gets one drink...2nd drink is a little difficult for him. After 50 tries, he goes to the cashier to get change and then goes back to the machine. All the while, I'm trying to wait patiently in my truck...watching the time because I still have to make it all the way across to the next town to get the boys. But note, I said waiting patiently....I really wanted to get out of my truck and give him some advice. Finally after almost 30 minutes I get to get pump my gas and go...at this point it is 5.
Thankfully for my nerves, Roo's practice ran until 5:30 so he was not sitting out in the cold waiting on me. Point being....if you are going to pull up to the pumps...get gas. If you need a drink, etc. pull off to the side.
